So by now I think you all know that I like to share a bunch of interesting stories from time to time. Here are two stories that I really enjoyed seeing, and hope that all of you will enjoy too and let me know what you think.
The 32-Hour Workweek
Sounds like a dream right? Earning a great salary and still have time to do the things you want but never have time for. This was the idea leading to the 32-Hour workweek, established by Ryan Carson of Team Treehouse, an online school that teaches students a variety of subjects and prepares them to be job ready in as little as 6 months (Great site). “I’m not gonna be at my fucking keyboard at 9PM on Friday night, because there’s no life there.” Sounds like an awesome idea to me.
This is a clear example of what I was talking about last week when I said that the workplace is changing. I know there are a lot of obvious questions about the application of a 32-Hour Workweek, such as the viability, financial implications, and productivity. Most of the general questions are answered in the recent interview with The Atlantic at http://www.theatlantic.com/video/index/396527/case-32-hour-workweek/. Team Treehouse is one of the growing companies that is changing how we view the workplace & I personally am proud to call myself a student.
The Iron Giant Re-Release in Theaters!
Yes, you are reading this right. For 2 nights only, The Iron Giant will be re-released in theaters with additional scenes. My childhood rushed out of me pretty quickly when I read about this on Fathom Events, who will be hosting the showing. This is one of those non-Disney animated films that many people enjoyed in the late 90’s, including myself. It will be premiered on September 30 in select theaters nationwide, with an encore date of October 4. Head over to http://www.fathomevents.com/event/the-iron-giant-signature-edition/more-info/details for more information. I’m ready to see this in theaters, hope you all are as well!
What do all of you think of a 32-Hour Workweek? How about The Iron Giant Re-Release? Anything else of interest you want to talk about? Let me know!
