Taking The Plunge

The more I look at my consistent vision, the more I see myself getting closer and closer. Before I returned to school for my final year, my mentor/boss sent me an e-mail regarding the mission statement I made for myself as part of my last assignment at work. The end of the e-mail read “I challenge you to make it more than words and live it! Be sure and share it with others who are important to you.”

Challenge accepted.

For the past few months, I have been teaching myself the technical aspects of documentary filmmaking. The goal has always been to put myself in a position where I am able to create something meaningful, to educate and encourage as well as entertain. I highly believe that filmmaking is the culmination of everything I love and believe in, complements the challenge of my analytical and creative side, and presents a strong message to the world about who I am and the mark I want to make.

Every action for the past year and a half has taken me one step further towards fulfilling this goal, and recently I have taken the major commitment by purchasing my first set of filming equipment! I have had moments before where I have been cautious about making a seemingly overwhelming move, but I quickly realized that this was quite literally a now or never situation for me, my defining moment where I decided if I wanted to continue on the traditional track with unsatisfactory results, or if I put myself in the position where I can do what I love, create what I want to see more of in the world, and hopefully inspire others to do the same in the process.

I have not yet managed to gather all of the main equipment I need, but I know that it will come sooner rather than later. I did manage to do a through test of my new camera around the school campus, and I must say I was highly impressed with the results. I am not a photographer by any means but here are a few of the pictures I managed to capture.

For all of you that have supported me up to this point, thank you. I would love to continue documenting my experiences and communicating my thoughts and ideas with all of you. I’m just a young, aspiring entrepreneur taking the journey one step at a time and enjoying every moment of it. There is so much I can, and want, to achieve. As I have always said, I have too much to contribute to stand in one place. Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts below, I’d love to hear what you have to say! Also be sure to subscribe to The Wingfield Blog.

Thank You,
Brandon
